![]() ![]() We are constantly working to improve the system, and welcome both feedback and bug reports - if there are apps that are causing a problem, we want to know about them so that we can make sure that MacUpdate Desktop is able to update as many apps as possible. For apps purchased from the Mac App Store, MacUpdate Desktop will launch the App Store app or Apple Software update for you. There are a handful of apps that do not offer direct downloads for updates - in those cases MacUpdate Desktop will still let you know that there is a new version available, and will take you to the page (for customers to log in or whatever) needed to get the update. ![]() There are also many cases where a developer will release a new version on their own web site and, but it takes weeks or months to get updated on the Mac App Store - MacUpdate Desktop will let you know about a new version as soon as a developer releases the update. The Mac App Store does handle updating your apps purchased from Apple fairly well, but that only covers a small fraction of the software you may have installed, and does not include screen savers, widgets, plugins, or pref panes, and will never include many awesome apps that are not "allowed" to be in the Mac App Store. While there are other solutions out there, they are all less sophisticated and more problematic. We spent a lot of time analyzing the best and fastest way to scan your Mac for all of the software you want to update.
